About Andrea
Andrea Martinson-Venincasa is originally from Mankato, Minnesota. She has taught
Suzuki violin and viola for over 30 years. She has a Bachelor of Music in Violin
Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Minnesota State
University.
She received a Master of Music in Suzuki Pedagogy from East Carolina University
where she studied with Joanne Bath and Fritz Gearhart. While pursuing her graduate
studies at ECU, she received a Suzuki Association of the Americas scholarship.
She received a second Master of Music degree, in Violin Performance from the Hartt
School of Music at the University of Hartford, CT, where she studied with Brian Lewis,
Linda Fiore, and Katie Lansdale.
Andrea has been certified in all of the Suzuki violin and viola books, advanced group
lessons, the works of Fritz Kreisler, Bach Violin Sonatas and Partitas, bowing and left-
hand technique, and child development. She studied viola with Susan DuBois at
University of North Texas.
Andrea has taught at the New Ulm Suzuki School, Mankato Suzuki School, the Hartt
School of Music Community Division, the Suzuki Music Institute of Dallas, and the Arts
School in Carrollton, TX. She has performed with the Mankato Symphony, the St. Cloud
Symphony and the Tar River Symphony. She has been a freelance musician in the
DFW area.
